This Sanctuary is to rehabilitate the confiscated animal so that it can be release back into the jungle. The good thing of this center is that most of the big cage are build under the tree canopy thus it has minimum impact on the environment when it was build.

The Matang Wildlife sanctuary office. Matang Wildlife sanctuary will undergo face lift and some maintenance. Thus, if you visit this sanctuary but end of next year it will be different compared to the picture below.
The bird cage build under the tree canopy.
A deer in its pan.

The orang utan in its play pan. The park ranger call him Aman.
Another picture of Aman, the orang utan.
Aman is over looking the whole area. I guess he is interested with the female orang utan at the next pan.
I've been there twice. The first one was a daily trip, the second one was overnight at the hostel. That place is wonderful bro. I saw a few orang utan too. I don't remember seeing aman. Maybe he wasn't there at that time.
ReplyDeleteI love your pics of Aman the Great....
ReplyDeleteOrangutans are critically endangered in the wild because of rapid deforestation and the expansion of palm oil plantations.
If nothing is done to protect these majestic creatures, they could be extinct in just a few years.
