Fishing Trip at Tanjung Datu, Sarawak

As my friends are preparing to celebrate Gawai. I spend the weekend, fishing at Tanjung Datu, Sarawak. The trip was planned by my good friend, Mr Chai and it has been a while i went out fishing with him. Mr Chai had been fishing at Tanjung Datu for 30 plus years using the same boat captain. He have scheduled and booked the fishing trip for the whole year.

We boarded the boat at 1 pm and on our way we go. with the sea breeze blowing and the sun baking on us. Fortunately, the boat have shade for us.

The destination for this trip is at the tip of Sarawak. If we go any further, we will be illegal alien in Kalimantan. The target fish for the afternoon is Great Travelly and parrot fish. Then at night, the targetted fish are snapper and jew fish... hopefully travelly using jig.

Picture above show where we are heading to.

During the journey, Mr Chai using a red head rapalla trolling lure or the local called it Marlboro (cigarrete). Why? Because if you look at the top of the box, it is red.
A view of the Tanjung Datu after we pass Teluk Melano. The sea was calm and the water was crystal clear. Hopefully, have fish.
I used prawn as bait thus i caught this parrot fish at 5.45 pm. after waiting for a period of time as a few of my friends hooked a few fish before me hooking at this parrot fish. It is always a feeling of either i am using the correct bait or cashing my line at the correct location when my friends started to hooked fishes in.
We spend the night fishing away and also caught squid. If you are fishing for red snapper, we advice you to use fresh squid.
A view during the day break early morning at 6.06 am. love this time of day. A small boat was fishing not far from us. Will write more on fishing trip.

Happy fishing! Be an angler and not a fishermen.
